* How to mix your own essential oil blend

We all have our favorite oils. This comes down to personal preference as to what fragrance is appealing to us. Maybe you enjoy the refreshing smell of citrus oils, the earthy scents of cedarwood or the floral aroma from a few drops of jasmine.

Maybe you don’t want to mix scents together as you prefer to keep it simple with plain Rose or Vanilla.

Different scents appeal to us all for different reasons. So how do you know what your signature fragrance will be? Well, it all comes down to experimentation – and this is the fun part!

  • In small glass bowls experiment with various pure essential oils
  • Work with a ratio of 3 : 5 : 2 = 10 drops total

3 being the top notes : 5 being the middle notes : 2 being the base notes

  • To get the best indication of what the final fragrance will be – allow your new combination to rest for several hours – preferably overnight
  • To avoid skin irritation do not place undiluted essential oils directly on the skin, especially delicate areas such as the face
  • Once you find the combination you prefer – you have just created your own essential oil blend!

Some good top note essential oils are lemon, orange, sage, bergamot, eucalyptus

Middle notes may include lavender, rose, nutmeg, cinnamon

Base notes could include peppermint, ylang ylang, ginger, jasmine, cedarwood, vanilla
