Help eliminate toxic chemicals from your home by making your own Natural Air-Freshener. This effective yet simple recipe is super affordable to make at home with just a few ingredients. And the best part, you choose the scent you want.

Along with my Easy DIY Natural Deodorant, this super affordable, homemade Air-Freshener has to be one of the best changes I’ve made for the health of our home. Free from chemicals, toxins and un-necessary expense it’s so simple to make. Here’s how you can make the switch also…
What you need to make your own natural air-freshener
- A bottle with a spray top – I like glass but you could recycle a plastic one you already have
- Distilled or filtered water
- Essential Oil of your choice
What Essential Oils can I use to make my own air-freshener?
Try to use good quality, organic, essential oils if you can. I have a few favorites that I have on hand for a variety of uses including: homemade cleaners, beauty products and healthcare. Having a small selection that can be used for various tasks helps to keep the cost down, and remember you only need a small amount, so it works out to be very economical.
For this homemade Natural Air-Freshener recipe my favourite to use is Rose Essential Oil simply because it’s such a delicious scent to me, it’s like a spritz of summer in the room each time we use it. Other good options are Lavender, Orange, Jasmine, Peppermint, Vanilla, the list goes on and on – it’s really your preference according to what smells amazing to you!

How to make your own Natural Air-Freshener
- In a clean, spray bottle – add 10 drops of your favorite Essential Oil per 100ml. For example, a 50ml bottle requires 5 drops of Essential Oil, while a 200ml bottle requires 20 drops of Essential Oil. (If you don’t know how many milliliters your bottle is, fill it with water – then tip the water into a measuring jug to test the volume.)
- Once you have your Oil in, fill the bottle with either distilled or filtered water.
- Attach the spray top and gently shake to disperse the oil through the water.
- Use sparingly, as required, to refresh the room.
This super simple, homemade option helps save so much money and really is a much healthier option for your home. I hope you love it!
